OPSCN is devoted to the development of sustainability initiatives that encourage new ways of thinking, which positively impact our environmental footprint, our economy and all who live, work, and play in Nigeria. We envision a Nigeria that is both economically prosperous and has conquered the numerous challenges of runaway consumption, population growth, climate change, extreme poverty, resource scarcity, ecosystem collapse and the loss of biodiversity.

Our Background
Founded in 2013, OPSCN has been at the forefront of conservation, energy efficiency, and sustainability-driven education programs across Nigeria. We work with individuals, businesses, and policymakers to integrate sustainable practices that benefit people and the planet.
Our mission is to catalyze the integration of sustainability into the policies, strategies and actions of government officials, business leaders and communities through programs and initiatives that save resources and money, improve livelihood, and cultivate sustainable businesses, communities, and environmentally conscious citizens.
We fulfil our mission with four thematic programs viz. Environmental & Energy Conservation (EEC), Community Sustainability (CS), Sustainability Education for Sustainable Development (SEESD), and Sustainable Business (SB). Our ability to work across the spectrum of local communities, corporate bodies and the various tiers of government using evidence-based actions are the unrivalled standards that pronounce our competence.
As part of our Career & Technical Education (CTE) program, OPSCN is aimed at building capacity of graduates and early careers, to meet the requisite skills needed to be employable, self-employed and an entrepreneur. The Career & Technical Education (CTE) program for OPSCN, is focus on the following: building the sustainability competencies of the graduates and early careers – to grow their capacity as innovators for progress toward green & sustainable economy; build in them a solutions-oriented culture, that will enable them initiate and implement impactful project at the local, national, and international levels.
It is our belief that to accomplish a green & sustainable economy, quantifiable change on each of the three central competencies, “critical thinking”, “normative dialogue” and “transformative leadership” must be acquired by these graduates and early careers. Critical thinking is indispensable as a tool to synthesize problems and their solutions reiteratively.
Normative dialogue is important as the ability to understand and work with diverse opinions and ideas about values. Transformative leadership is the capacity to implement solutions in diverse stakeholder contexts. Outcomes in each of these areas are measurable, and their accomplishment will have a substantial impact firstly on OPSCN achievements and the nation.
